ngayi (writings)
In our Barkandji/Barkindji language ngayi means 'hello', but it is also literally a way of 'calling out'. We called out and welcomed in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander writers, thinkers and artists, inviting them to connect with and respond to some of the themes of ngaratya (together, us group, all in it together).
These writings offer illuminations on subjects and experiences related to belonging, cultural and art practices and wellbeing.
This part of our project seeks to empower a multitude of voices, to provide a platform for people to share their stories, to explore and to unfold rich layers and personal perspectives in parallel with our exhibition and many of the themes telegraphed.
This part of our website is iterative – as the show tours we will be calling out to and publishing more contributors.
